STUDIO TINTA
Studio Tinta is a Melbourne-based natural dye studio that creates sustainable textiles using botanical dyes and natural fibres. A combination of design and chemistry, each Tinta piece is hand-dyed and manufactured locally in Melbourne by Katie.
Plant Dyes- Our textiles are naturally dyed by hand, making each item one of a kind. Our dyes are made using locally sourced plant materials and powdered extracts, such as eucalyptus leaves and avocado stones. Each piece goes through a treatment process that takes a minimum of 48 hours.
Natural Fibres- We source sustainable fabrics that are made from hemp, organic cotton, linen and silk. By using natural fibres, we ensure that our pieces aren't made from petrochemicals and are fully compostable at the end of their life.
Sustainable Process- Our dye materials are 100% compostable and our exhausted dye baths are used to water the garden at the end of their life. We do not use plastic to make our products and our packaging is compostable and recyclable.
Ethical Manufacturing- Each piece is ethically made in Australia. Most of our manufacturing is done at The Social Studio, a not-for-profit social enterprise in Collingwood, Victoria. The Social Studio is a fashion school, clothing label, retail shop, digital textile print studio, clothing manufacturer and a community space run by young people from new migrant and refugee communities.
